Pinguicula ibarrae is a rare and beautiful butterwort species native to Hidalgo, Mexico, where it grows on mossy rock faces in foggy, humid conditions. Discovered in 2001 by grower Adolfo Ibarra and formally described in 2005 by botanist Sergio Zamudio, this species stands out for its lush growth and minimal dormancy. Unlike many Mexican Pinguicula, P. ibarrae typically receives consistent moisture year-round, and only forms a succulent rosette in the driest conditions.
