Cubanelle Peppers (also known as the Italian Frying Pepper) are a highly prized heirloom variety known for their sweet, mild flavor and incredibly thin skins. Because their walls are much thinner than a standard bell pepper, they cook down rapidly and beautifully, making them the absolute gold standard for quick pan-frying, sautéing with sausage and onions, or stuffing. Like its cousins, the Cubanelle is grown as a tender summer annual in USDA Zones 3 through 8. It cannot survive frost. Heat Level: 0 to 1,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU). Full sun is mandatory The rule for Cubanelles matches the sweet banana pepper perfectly: Yes to the fruit, no to the plant.
